THESE DAYS, MORE GLOBAL CONSUMERS ARE CHECKING NUTITION LABELS ON GROCERIES, BUT STILL NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING THEM!

Two in three (66%) global online consumers say they take notice of packaged goods labels containing nutritional information compared to two years ago but less than half of consumers (44%) claim to mostly understand what they’re reading – according to findings from an Internet survey on Food Labeling and Nutrition conducted in 51 countries, released today by The Nielsen Company.

Despite much recent talk about the subject of retirement in Singapore, one-fifth of the working adults are not yet certain when they can afford to retire.In a recent study conducted by The Nielsen Company amongst working adults in Singapore, over one third (36%) expressed that they would ideally like to retire by the age of 55. While a minority (5%) wishes to remain in the workforce until they are 65 years old, 10 percent held on to their enduring working spirit of never wanting to retire.

While 70 percent of Internet-users worldwide claim to have a vehicle for which they must buy fuel, an even greater number are concerned about the impact of ever-rising fuel prices. As many as 82 percent of consumers on the world’s five continents claim to be feeling the hit to their wallets in a recent online survey by ACNielsen, the world’s leading market research and information company. The survey, conducted in November 2005, polled over 23,500 respondents – regular Internet users – in 42 markets, including 500 in Singapore.

We Know What You Did Last June School Break: ACNielsen Survey
The majority of full-time, school students aged 15 years and above are left to their own devices during school holidays, according to latest research from ACNielsen Research Singapore. A recent ACNielsen survey found that the most popular school holiday pastime Singaporean full-time students indulged in was getting together with friends (70%), and entertaining themselves at home with computer games and the internet (68%). A similar trend was also found for the school break last December, where 64 percent and 69 percent respectively entertained themselves in this way.

Sleepless in Asia: 40% of Asia Pacific Consumers; One in Two Singaporeans Awake Past Midnight
An average of 37% of consumers the world over aren’t usually tucked up in bed until after midnight, but 40% of people in Asia Pacific are burning the midnight oil compared to 34% of Americans and 32% of Europeans. In Singapore, more than half the local population claimed that they do not normally ‘hit the sack’ before the clock strikes midnight. These findings were revealed in a global study of sleep habits recently released by ACNielsen, a leading provider of consumer and marketplace information.
